Pocket-sized action cameras changed cycling video. The DJI Osmo Nano and Insta360 GO 3S / GO Ultra are light enough to forget you're wearing them and good enough to publish from. There's just one problem: aero road helmets were never designed to carry a camera.
Adhesive GoPro pads don't stick to compound-curved, vented shells. Strap systems sit crooked and flap in the wind. And nobody wants to drill into a $300 helmet.
The vent-mount approach
Our helmet camera mount takes a different route: it's a flexible TPU cradle shaped for your exact helmet model, and it anchors through the vents with zip ties — the same way pro team mechanics attach number transponders. No adhesive, no drilling, no residue.
Because the mount is shaped to one specific shell (a Specialized Evade 4 mount will not fit an Evade 3 — we make both), it hugs the helmet's curvature perfectly and holds the camera dead-centre at the front.
Why soft TPU and not rigid plastic?
- It can't scratch or gouge your shell. TPU is softer than the helmet's polycarbonate skin.
- It conforms under tension. Zip ties pull it snug against the compound curves; a rigid mount would bridge and rock.
- It's crash-friendlier. A rigid block bolted to a helmet is exactly what you don't want in an impact. TPU deforms.
The part most mounts get wrong: angle
A helmet camera that points where your head points sounds right — until you remember that your head angle changes constantly: hoods, drops, TT tuck, climbing out of the saddle. A fixed mount that frames perfectly in one position films the sky or your front tyre in another.
That's why the cradle on our mount is angle-adjustable: set the tilt to match the position you actually ride in, check the framing in the app, and go.
Installation in four steps
- Seat the TPU cradle over the front vents of your helmet.
- Thread the included zip ties through the vent channels and trim the tails.
- Snap your camera's magnetic clip into the cradle. (The mount holds the original clip that came with your camera — Osmo Nano clip, GO 3S clip, or GO Ultra magnetic clip. Tell us which one you use when you order.)
- Attach the camera, set your angle, ride.
When you're not filming, the clip pops out in seconds and the low-profile cradle all but disappears — you can wear the helmet normally every day.
